The Continence Foundation - In Depth

Introduction

Welcome to our pages with In depth information.

The Continence Foundation does not set out to provide comprehensive information for health professionals on the treatment of incontinence and related problems - far from it. However, we do produce some material, much of which is reproduced here.

Making the Case for Investment in an Integrated Continence Service

The first item is our "source book" for all those who seek to put the case for a comprehensive, integrated continence service. This was published in May 2000. The project was carried out with the collaboration of the Association for Continence Advice, the Royal College of Nursing Continence Care Forum, the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Women's Health and Incontact. It was made possible by educational grants from Bard Ltd, Pharmacia Ltd and SCA Hygiene Products Ltd.

A Brief Guide to Bladder Control Problems in Adults

A Brief Guide to Bowel Control Problems in Adults

These were originally produced as a plastic-encapsulated A5 card, now out of print, which was produced with the aid of an educational grant from Pharmacia Ltd. They give in tabular form a quick reference guide to treatment of these conditions.

Continence in Primary Care

These come from the Foundation's Resource Pack, which is produced with the financial assistance of Sanofi Synthelabo Ltd. The first reproduces most of the text of the Pack's main booklet. Other items in the hard copy of the pack are the "Continence Wheel", a leaflet for the public and poster for the waiting room wall, and three tear-off pads of 25 leaflets each - on pelvic floor exercises for women, on the prostate, and bladder retraining charts.

The Continence Foundation Review

The Review is published with the aid of an educational grant from Pharmacia Ltd. It comes out three times a year and is free of charge to health professionals. It is aimed at those in primary care and includes abstracts of selected research reports plus brief articles. Some of the recent items are reproduced here.

Prevention of Incontinence - a consensus statement

This statement was produced by a 1997 conference of 42 invited experts. The conference and the original publication were made possible by an educational grant from Pharmacia Ltd. The conference was jointly sponsored by the Simon Foundation for Continence (USA) and the Continence Foundation (UK) in association with the Continence Promotion Committee of the International Continence Society.

Your Baby, Your Bladder and Your Bowels

This report of a conference organised in 1996 by the Continence Foundation was originally published in Professional Care of Mother and Child and is reproduced with their kind permission.
