This year Continence Awareness Week will provide the platform from which
Incontact will launch its new UK Charity for bladder and bowel disorders.
Building on the past successes of Awareness Week, Incontact will organise
and run the week much as it has always been done by the Continence Foundation.
The significant difference this year will be the focus on the launch,
however, the underlying messages we all need to get across to the world
in general remain simple – bladder and bowel problems can affect
anyone, most can be cured or effectively managed to improve quality of
life and more importantly you don’t need to suffer alone and in silence.
Incontact needs the support of volunteers to help get these messages across
to as wide an audience as possible to ensure patients, carers and health
care professionals know there is a new charity providing help and support.
As a supporter you will be provided with all the information and materials
you need to organise a local event, including a simple step by step guide
to gaining publicity. Please remember, size really isn’t important – even
a small table top stand in a clinic waiting room could help change someone’s
life for the better.
Bladder and bowel disorders can kill a person’s quality of life
and as we all know the taboo nature of this subject often prevents us from
making any real progress. No-one wants to talk about it. It is up to all
of us to help change this.
