The
UK Continence Alliance
The
main professional and voluntary organisations in the UK concerned
with incontinence work together in the informal UK
Continence Alliance.
THE
CONTINENCE FOUNDATION is a member and is the organisation
with the widest interest in the subject.
The
other members are:
THE
ASSOCIATION FOR CONTINENCE ADVICE: the multidisciplinary
organisation for health and social care professionals with
a special interest in incontinence.
CONTINENCE
PRODUCTS EVALUATION NETWORK: funded by the Medical
Devices Agency, the network organises multi-centre trials
of incontinence products. Its Director, Alan Cottenden, is
a trustee of the Foundation.
THE
CONTINENCE RESOURCE CENTRE AND HELPLINE FOR SCOTLAND:
partly funded by the Scottish Office, the Centre, based at
the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow, provides a confidential
telephone helpline and a clinic and raises awareness (with
media and other activities) of the problems of incontinence.
EDUCATION
AND RESOURCES FOR IMPROVING CHILDHOOD CONTINENCE (ERIC):
the national charity that provides advice and information on bedwetting
and day wetting to children, parents, young adults and professionals.
INCONTACT:
the support organisation for incontinent people and their carers.
It produces newsletters, has local groups and undertakes projects.
NATIONAL
ASSOCIATION FOR COLITIS AND CROHN'S DISEASE (NACC)
UK
CONTINENCE SOCIETY: the UK branch brings together researchers,
scientists and clinicians at an annual meeting to share their work
and ideas.
PROMOCON:
the project at Disabled Living (Manchester) concerned with promotion
of continence through product awareness, which is also working on
the role of occupatonal therapy in continence and on regional public
awareness campaigns.
ROYAL
COLLEGE OF NURSING CONTINENCE CARE FORUM: the organisation
for RCN members with a special interest in continence care.

Many

Links
Internationally,
the key organisation is the INTERNATIONAL
CONTINENCE SOCIETY, which holds an annual scientific
meeting.
It
has a CONTINENCE
PROMOTION COMMITTEE which brings together voluntary
